BOYS VARSITY WIN 4A CHAMPIONSHIP !!!!
Liberty University, VA
The Chattanooga Patriots varsity boys basketball team win the East Coast National Championship Tournament in The Vines Center at Liberty University. The boys defeated powerhouse Greenville Hurricanes in a thrilling game. The varsity boys suffered from stage fright in the 1st Quarter scoring only 3 points, with the score 17-3 at the end of the quarter. The Patriots found themselves in a deep hole during the second quarter but began to click on offense, with the Half score 27-19. The Patriots came storming back in the second half with pressure defense, and exposing the weakness of the 2-3 Hurricanes zone, and ended the third down only 3, 35-32. Senior Adam Ambrosetti drained a 3 in the early fourth, and forced a steal for an easy lay-up giving the Patriots their first lead of the game. Senior Trenton Anderson nailed 2 more 3's to add to the lead and junior Nate Eastwood turned on the heat scoring all of his 10 points in the second half. Junior Micah Knott poured in 12 points in the paint, and with the help of senior Dylan Merrill, slowed down the big post players of the Hurricanes. Trenton Anderson pulled down key defensive rebounds for Chattanooga in the last minutes, he and Knott then sealed off the last baseline post play of the Hurricanes to tie, while Adam Ambrosetti came in from behind for the steal, sealing the win, final score Chattanooga 49 Greenville 47
